Pros And Cons Of Web Marketing

Even in the virtual world, you need to be realistic. There has been an unforeseen interest in internet marketing recently and there are hundreds joining this every day. But, many of these people forget the basics and often start without any idea of where they are going. You need to know what you are doing, what you expect to do or achieve and how you plan to do it.

It is a platform that you can use to your advantage and even use to battle with big companies. But, you should remember that big companies always have a big capital and they can spend more on advertising. You need to plan better to be able to hold your ground.

Internet marketing has advantages

-          You can have customers from any part of the world and you can sell at any time of the day. Your store runs 24×7.

-          Your communication costs are scaled down to a minimum here than any traditional method. Email costs absolutely nothing.

-          Your website is like an entire book on the screen. It can contain unlimited information, everything that a visitor is looking for. Moreover, when you send subscription emails, you are further informing the recipient of what is new. You can offer discounts and offers easily on the internet and can make more money.

-          The internet is also a convenient method of sending sensitive information as against mail and courier in the real world. There is a heightened sense of safety and security online.

And disadvantages…

-          Marketing on the net will still cost money at several stages. You need hardware, software, systems and programs, maintenance and marketing schemes – all these cost money.

-          Estimates and surveys have shown that at least half the population of households go online for shopping. But, you can reach only a few because there are too many service providers like you.

-          There is a tendency for users to still use the internet to find information and apply it in their outside world. So, although your website may be showing a great many visitors, there will be only a few who are ready to buy your products and services. Many websites fail to make profit this way even though there are sales.

-          You need to regularly update your website. Else, readers may get annoyed and search engines may not rank the website well.

-          Even if you have the most informative website, you still need to provide top-class customer service. This includes a phone-in desk and email service. Also, you need to give them answers as soon as possible.

-          You need to ensure safety and security and this should be guaranteed to the consumer at all points. Else, they will hesitate to use payment methods to buy anything on the website.

-          There are at least ten more companies like yours on the internet. You never know after how many tries the customer is reaching you. If they don’t see what they want, they will move on.

-          Most visitors are looking for freebies and special offers. Else, they may not even read further.
