Internet marketing has become an easier option for companies in terms of money and also effort, though it does not mean that you don’t need to work hard to get results. It is comparatively less work if you plan your strategies well. One of those strategies is the opt-in list. Almost all websites, the ones which are selling products and services especially, have opt-in lists.

The concept behind an opt-in list is mail marketing. That is, mails are sent out to talk about the company, its products and services, offers and promotions and sometimes just general information related in any way. An opt-in list is different from regular mail because the recipient has already subscribed for the information. He has given permission to receive the material. Since the recipient has already acknowledged the sender, the mails will not be regarded spam.

For businesses, building a good opt-in list is most important. It is true that only some people go for subscription to promotional material. But, those who do are the ones really interested in knowing about the products and services. To maintain these customers, the mails you sent out, the newsletters and the other material, should be really good.

Your opt-in list can be used to make more money than you think. Here are some of the things you can do.

1. Put ads on your list. Depending on the subscribers you have managed to get, corporations will pay to accommodate their ads on the list. For this, you should not sell or rent your lists. But, you can still take ads of companies on your list. This means that your newsletters or any other correspondence you sent out will carry the ads and this is extra money.

2. Tie up with companies that are related in business to yours in any way. For this, you may have to include a sentence or two and a link to their pages on your newsletters. Every click in this case is paid to you; it’s called pay for performance.

3. In case you guide readers of your newsletters to other companies and these customers buy something from them, you can ask for some commission for the same. After all, you have facilitated the sale and it makes sense to get paid for it.

4. You can also sell products of other companies on your site. For this, you will have to place the description along with photos of the product and if they buy, you can inform the company about it. Decide the percentage of the sales amount you will get in each sale.

5. In your newsletters, put up information about e-books and facilitate the sales. These can be a set of articles, manuals or any such compilation which people are bound to find useful.

6. Encourage people to refer a friend or bring other people into the network. A large list will bring in more revenue.

7. Subscribers to your list are people who really need information. So, they are even ready to pay for it. Include loyalty programs and even partnership deals with your subscribers.
